The
current Dorman Cadillac-GMC in Dunn was founded in 1954
and was known as Dennis Oldsmobile-Cadillac, Inc. In 1984 the GMC
brand of quality trucks, vans, and sport utility vehicles were
added to the lineup. The year of 1986 was when the Dormans became
full owners of the dealership and started what we know today as
Dorman Oldsmobile-Cadillac- GMC, Inc.
The Dormans grew the business so much that in 1994
they decided a new facility and location was needed and Mr. Sidney
Dorman purchased a large tract of land facing Interstate 95. Plans
to build a brand new state of the art GM facility were initiated!
Construction
on the new facility was completed in November of 1996 and the move
was completed over a weekend! In 2000 General Motors announced
to the world that it was going to phase out the oldest automobile
line in America, which was Oldsmobile. General Motors informed
all of it's Oldsmobile dealers that it would be purchasing back
the franchise agreements from them over the course of the next
several years. In 2002, General Motors finalized it's agreement
with Dorman and the name of the dealership became what is today
known as Dorman Cadillac-GMC!
